I was born and raised in Billings, and this area is still where my husband and I have chosen to call home and raise our family. Being local matters to me because our clients are not just policy numbers. They are neighbors, friends, and families we see throughout our community.
I have been in the insurance industry since 1998, being a part of Conver & Winchell Insurance from the day the doors opened in 2003. I became a partner in the agency in 2010 and sole owner in 2017. Over the years, I have seen insurance change a great deal, but my approach has stayed the same: offer honest guidance and help clients protect the things that matter most.
As an independent agency owner, I value the ability to work with multiple carriers and help clients find coverage that fits their needs. I am proud to lead a small, local agency where personal service still matters.

I joined Conver & Winchell Insurance in May 2021 and enjoy helping individuals and families find insurance that fits their needs. I believe insurance doesn't have to be complicated, and I take pride in answering questions, explaining coverage, and making the process as simple as possible for our clients.
Before joining Conver & Winchell, I spent over 15 years as an assistant manager with Avis Budget Car Rental, where I developed a strong background in customer service, problem solving, and building relationships.
A lifelong Billings resident, I enjoy being part of the community and getting to know the people I work with. Outside of the office I love spending time with my daughters, Emily & Britney, and our Pembroke Welsh Corgi, Doc, as well as exploring new places and enjoying time with family.
I'm Charley McLean, originally from Laurel, Montana. I grew up watching my mom work in the insurance industry, and over the years, I got to see firsthand the relationships she built and the people she helped along the way. That played a big part in my decision to follow in her footsteps and find my own place in the insurance world.
Outside of work, I love exploring new places, trying new things, and staying involved in my community. I'm also a volunteer 14U softball coach, which has become something I really enjoy.
Tess is our unofficial office greeter, occasional Friday visitor, and firm believer that attention should never be in short supply.
Born in 2017, Tess is a lovable mutt who became part of the Conver & Winchell office story somewhat unexpectedly. Sara used to think having a dog at the office seemed unprofessional, until Tess became an only dog in 2021 and made it very clear that being left home alone was not her preferred career path. After a few destructive reminders of her separation anxiety, Tess started coming to work with Mom.
These days, Tess is older, a little more settled, and able to stay home for longer stretches, but she still loves the attention she gets at the office. Many clients have come to know her, ask about her, and even look for her when they stop in.
Tess is proof that sometimes “never” turns into “well, maybe on Fridays.”
